What
if I can't get to class every week?
Pilates does require commitment and dedication in order to really
gain its benefits. However, Fiona understands that there will be times
when you cannot get to class, hence the Class Card is flexible and
it allows you to attend any of her matwork classes if you cannot get
to your regular session.
I
am really fit but would like to start Pilates, can't I skip Level
1 and just do Level 2?
A private session will help Fiona to ascertain whether or not you
are ready to progress so quickly. Pilates is a very different discipline
to other forms of exercise and works on the deep stabilizing muscles,
whereas most sports tend to use more superficial mobilising muscles.
You may still need to do some work at Level 1 until you are really
familiar with the technique.
Download the 'Principles
of Pilates' document and see if you fully understand it.
Will
I lose weight doing Pilates?
Pilates
will tone your muscles, improving your shape by increasing the amount
of muscle in the body (long lean muscle, not bulky muscle) this will
help you to generally burn more energy. You will only lose weight
by combining Pilates with some low intensity long duration exercise
like walking, swimming cycling or low intensity cardio classes at
your local gym. You may also need to make some changes to your diet.
